Budget Plan — decide before you spend

  1. Select Budget Plan. If the month has no plan yet, click Create Budget.
  2. Click + Add Item, choose a Category, enter the Planned Amount (₹) and optional notes, then Add to Budget.
  3. Repeat for each category you want to control (Groceries, Fuel, Education…).

Each line shows Plan, Actual (from Daily Expenses) and how much you are Under or Over, with a progress bar:

  • Green — below 80% of plan
  • Amber — 80% to 99%
  • Red — 100% or more
💡 Tip: Happy with this month's plan? Click Copy → to carry it forward to next month instead of re-entering every line.

Daily Expenses — log what you spend

Select Daily Expenses and click + Add. Fill in:

Title RequiredStart typing — earlier titles are suggested.
Amount (₹) RequiredThe amount spent.

Returnable / CancelableTick if the money may come back (refund, return).
Loan To (Name)Appears for the Loan category — who you lent to and the expected return month.

Working with the list

  • List by Date Entered By Paid By — groups the list and shows a total for each group. A filter lets you pick one date or one person.
  • Row actions: Edit and Delete (your own entries), Duplicate to copy an expense to another date, and Cancel / Return for returnable items. Cancelled items stay visible but are excluded from totals.
  • The summary panel below the list shows Last Date By, By Payer, By Category and By Date. It starts collapsed — click to expand.
  • The list refreshes itself every 30 seconds, so entries made by other members appear without reloading.
💡 Loan reminders: when a loan's expected return month arrives, Gripar highlights it at the top of the list so it isn't forgotten.

  • Edit the name or icon.
  • Turn off a category you no longer use (it disappears from the form but past expenses keep it).

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find the Family Budget on Gripar?
Open Family House, pick a house and click Members & Activity. The Budget tab sits next to Members, Chat and Split Expenses. If you do not see it, the house owner can switch it on in App Settings.
What is the difference between Budget and Split Expenses?
Budget tracks the household as one unit — income, planned spending, daily expenses, recurring bills and savings. Split Expenses works out who owes whom when members share costs.
Can I export my expenses?
Yes. In Daily Expenses, click Report to build a month or date report and download it as Excel or PDF.
How do recurring bills like rent, milk and electricity work?
Add each bill once as a Recurring Head. Every month Gripar lists what is due. Fixed bills need one payment, metered bills ask for units used, and daily items such as milk or newspaper are logged day by day.
What is Important & Special Work?
A separate fund for a big goal — a wedding, house purchase, education or medical emergency. Members contribute towards a target and every spend is recorded against the fund.
